Got a weird problem, the game starts with sound but there’s no display and it renders the mouse unusable. If I bring up task manager the mouse works again then right click Primal and select maximize, the screen shows up but it just flashes different colours (red, orange, yellow, grey, white until it obviously loads another screen then black then back to colours again). I can also hear my controller going through the menu but can’t see anything!

I’ve tried adjusting screen resolution manually through the GamerProfile file in mydocuments (strangely it’s set to 1 width 1 length before changes) and it didn’t help. Tried the weird colours fix above, still nothing. I’m also getting this message in the RendercapsLog folder:

“Number of NVIDIA Multi-GPUs detected (by AFR groups) = 13D Engine shutdown error: resources leaked!”

I don’t have SLI so no idea why it’s saying multi gpu’s detected.

I’ve updated my drivers, verified game files, uninstalled/re-installed but nothing’s fixed it. I tried Far Cry 4 too and it’s still working fine. Any idea what could be causing this?

      having same issue!

      • Michael P

So it’s not just me! I’ve looked around and haven’t found anyone with this particular issue until now. I’ve got a support ticket going at Ubi so if I get a fix I’ll let you know.

      • Michael P

It’s the screen resolution setup in Windows and Nvidia control panel that’s causing the issue, a guy at the Steam forums helped me on it.

Mine was set to 1176×664 (recommended is 1280×720 but my TV supports 1920×1080) so I upped that, it was the same in Nvidia control panel so I changed that and the scaling from fullscreen to aspect ratio and enabled screen resize and adjusted that so the screen fits, then adjusted the width and height setting in the mydocs gamerprofile folder and finally got it running.

Such a stupid issue but everything’s worked right outta the box for 4 years so I’ve never had to fiddle with these settings before. Anyway if you haven’t figured it out already give that a try.

Did you ever fix the sound no picture problem with far cry?

      • Michael P

Sadly no and I’ve tried multiple suggestions and the like for the last couple of days. I’ve left a support ticket with Ubisoft and if I hear back with a working fix I’ll report back here. If not I’ve asked for a swap to console as I have both of those too, wish me luck!

  • Purchased the 1st of March and I still can’t play with it cause the mouse lag >
And I’ve got no support/response at all …
This damned conversion from Console to PC sux a bunch 😛

Hello there. I’ve been having a black screen issue for five times before I
stopped playing the game, waiting for solutions. Basically, every now
and then, while I am playing, the game freezes and the screen turns
black, while I still can hear the sounds of the location I were in (but
not my character’s movements, animals’ or enemies’). These are my
    specifications:
    CPU: Intel Core i7-6700
    GPU: AMD Radeon R9 380 (4 GB)
    RAM: 8 GB DDR4
The game is installed on a 1 TB HDD, almost empty.
I suspected a driver problem, so I checked for updates for every
component, but it was all up-to-date; the latest graphical driver is the
16.2.1 Hotfix, which I’ve got. I have tried to turn down some specs,
but nothing changed. I should also say my system ran The Witchter 3 with
high settings without an issue for almost 100 hours, so I seriously
doubt it couldn’t handle Primal even at middle settings…
    I wrote in
Ubisoft’s official forum and found many others got the same problem,
many of them have a R9 series card, but someone has Nvidia.

Hey guys, I’ve done everything I can find but cannot get past this one. I get to the main menu just fine, the moment I select benchmark or start new game, the game loads along just fine and the moment the load bar is full I get about 1 second of sound and the game freezes. I can hear the ambient music but I’m just stuck on the frozen load screen.

I’m desperate to get my game working, please help.
