Destiny 2 The Witch Queen is the sixth expansion pack to the popular online first person shooter – Destiny 2 by Bungie. This major expansion for Destiny 2 will release on February 22, 2022. Recently, Bungie showed a fresh teaser on Witch Queen in this context. There, attentive fans discovered specific details.

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Plot

The plot of Destiny 2 The Witch Queen focuses on the title character of the Witch Queen – Savathun – who joined the fight after her brother’s death, Oryx. This character was already the antagonist of the previous expansion, The Taken King. After years of intrigue, she managed to gain the power of light, making herself a goddess capable of disastrous things. She is currently in Throne World. Your task is to defeat her and discover the intrigue that was behind the Witch Queen gaining access to light.

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Gameplay

The Witch Queen expansion introduces a new story campaign to the game, which you can play alone or in cooperation. Also, the gameplay has been enriched by this DLC with two additional gameplay modes. Renewed raids, which are also available to users of the basic version, and dungeons known from MMORPGs, i.e. randomly generated dungeons filled with enemies with a reward waiting for daredevils who will overcome all adversities. A novelty is a crafting system that allows you to create a powerful weapon from scratch or improve the existing one. On the subject of weapons in The Queen Witch, we have got glaive at our disposal, blending combinations, ranged attacks, and placing an energy shield.

Destiny 2 Players discover Oryx – But different than in Part 1

On September 24th, Bungie released another teaser video for The Witch Queen in Season 15 of Destiny 2. It shows a board on which the keepers try to understand the different threads of Savathûn’s story and put them together to form an overall picture. For example, how she came to the light of the traveler or what she had to do with Mara Sov, Krähe, and Osiris.

An exciting detail is currently causing spirited discussions in the community. In the clip, resourceful fans discovered an old nemesis from Destiny 1 – Oryx, the possessed king. Brother of the witch queen Savatûn. The Guardians hunted this down in Part 1.

It is different now. The clip shows a small scene from the Regicide mission, the last story quest of the Taken King campaign, in which you have to kill Oryx. But later, you met him again – in the raid king case.

Particularly attentive players noticed that Oryx from the Witch Queen teaser differs slightly from its earlier appearance in Regicide. Although no new details have been added, it is not the original cut scene from earlier. But a newly rendered version – according to some fans on Reddit. So it looks like Bungie imported this scene into Destiny 2.

Since Bungie has transferred the Oryx scene to the new engine in Destiny 2, it has left many players wondering: Why? Is there something coming? There are a few theories. The most popular right now being: It could be a possible clue to the next classic raid that will return from Destiny 1.

While we wait for Destiny 2 The Witch Queen expansion, we are pretty excited to find out what Bungie has in store for celebrating it’s 30th anniversary.
