Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age is Square Enix fantasy role-playing video game. It was initially released for PS2. The remastered high definition of the same game released in July 2017 for the PS4. There are a lot of options available to you to select jobs for various party members. This can be overwhelming hence this guide will serve as a job guide for the various zodiac jobs the game offers. This is part 1 of the 3 part guide.

First up, you need to know that there are three factors that make a character suited to a particular job – Licenses, Gear Bonuses and Innate Abilities. You can also combine jobs in this game making the number of options available nearly infinitesimal.

BLACK MAGE JOB

The black mage lets you cast offensive spells. You can even target airborne enemies with it. Black Mage can equip Staves that give additional elemental boost that depends on the gear equipped. The best characters for this job are Fran, Penelo and Vaan. Vaan can be considered as an all-round character and can be relied upon on almost all scenarios. But Ashe is recommended to do this job as Ashe can use hard-hitting elemental magic along with curative magic.

ARCHER JOB

The archer makes use of light armor and swift bows. Use the item Lores which enables you to use items mid-battle. Archers mainly use long-range abilities and can bolster elemental damage as well. The archer can also provide Magic Breaks during battle.

The best suited characters are Basch, Vaan and Ashe. Basche has an innate Libra skill, which makes him quite useful in identifying weaknesses and exploiting them by using special ammo on the bow. Vaan is a good all-rounder and Ashe has good stats for an archer.

SHIKARI JOB

Shikari is the Hindi word for hunter. Daggers, Swords, Shields and Light armor are his equipment. He can also deal high amounts of damage and use combos well.

The best characters here are Vaan, Balthier and Basch. Vaan and Basch are more ideal owing to their high STR and HP as base stats which are needed for this hard-hitting job drawing out more STR and SPD.

FOEBREAKER JOB

The Foebreaker tops all characters all by providing all four types of breaks in the game. They can equip heavy weapons like Hammers and Axes and heavy armor and shields too, making an ideal tanking job. This job is mainly useful as a support job to lure away enemies from the main attacker.

The best characters here are Vaan and Balthie owing to their high STR and HP. Interestingly, Fran may take up the role owing to Fran’s innate cure skill too.
