Gamescom 2016 was a week-long event, so come Friday the Gamescom 2016 Awards were announced. These are recognitions to the best games of the event in different categories. And the biggest of them all, the Best of Gamescom, was awarded to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The winners of these awards were decided by an “international expert jury”. The nomination process consisted of selecting 73 nominations out of 200 entries, and then deciding on winners from those 73 nominees.

Congratulations to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Another interesting award is the Consumer Award, which went to Battlefield 1.

  • Best Racing Game: Forza Horizon 3 (Microsoft)
  • Best Action Game: Battlefield 1 (Electronic Arts)
  • Best Simulation Game: NBA 2K17 (2K)
  • Best Sports Game: Steep (Ubisoft)
  • Best Family Game: Skylanders Imaginators (Activision)
  • Best Strategy Game: Sid Meier’s Civilization VI (2K)
  • Best Puzzle/Skill Game: Dragon Quest Builders (Square Enix)
  • Best Social/Online Game: Gwent: The Witcher Card Game (CD Projekt Red)
  • Best Casual Game: Battlezone (Rebellion)
