This Resident Evil 7 teaser posted by the official YouTube channel of the property is only 30 seconds long, but it reveals something significant that should make classic survival horror fans very happy.
That’s right, it’s the return of the Tetris-style item management boxes. This was a huge component of the franchise up to RE4; trying to fit in as many items as possible by rotating them to take advantage of the limited space. This got removed in RE5 and 6 because the focus there was on action, so it made sense that players should have unlimited space to hold guns. But now, it seems Resident Evil 7 is indeed returning to the franchise’s survival horror roots. We’re left hungry for more until the game releases on January 24, 2017.
