Starbound is now ready to be officially released after spending three years on Early Access on Steam. Developer Chucklefish announced it will be officially released on July 22.

The 2D dynamically generated game has been in development for five years. “While Starbound will be finished in two weeks, we will continue to update and support the game for as long as we can”, stated the developers. “We’ve got loads of cool ideas we couldn’t fit into 1.0”.

Some of the updates of the upcoming 1.0 version include an expanded questing system and the ability to recruit NPCs as crew members.
