Capcom Sales Figures and Profits Suffered in 2016

Nintendo isn’t the only classic gaming company that’s suffering financially. Capcom also released its financial results from April 1st to June 30th, and both sales and profits have declined from the same period last year.

Sales were reported as $104 million, which is a 24 percent decline. Operating income saw a decline as well, hurting Capcom with a $6.9 million loss. Capcom blamed the income loss on “foreign exchange losses caused by the rapidly rising yen”, which is valid, but the main reason the company is struggling is because of the lack of major releases.

The only major games the company published in 2016 are Street Fighter V and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice. They also released Umbrella Corps very recently in late June, but that’s simply not enough.
