Darkest Dungeon 2 is a 3D action RPG with rogue mechanics. A group of six warriors makes their way to the mountain peak in search of the cherished goal. Many dangers and obstacles await them. Only a sophisticated player can lead the whole team safe and sound through all the obstacles. The game is a direct sequel to the first part of Darkest Dungeon.

Darkest Dungeon 2 Game development

The game is created by Red Hook Studios; under the direction of director Chris Bourassa and game designer Tyler Sigman. The indie team has 14 people. Within a year, the studio plans to attract twice as many employees.

Canadian musician and composer Stuart Chatwood will return to write the soundtrack. Voice actor Wayne June will return to his role as storyteller.

The game will continue the concept of the 1st part, but the plot and gameplay will be more ambitious. According to game designer Tyler Sigman in an interview with IGN on February 18, 2019, the studio plans to create an entire grueling journey for players full of horror elements.

The game is being developed on the engine of the first part with complete hand-drawn character models and basic animation.

As in the first part, Darkest Dungeon 2 focuses on the psychological state of the team of fighters. The players have six characters in assets: Runaway, Leper, Highwayman, Hellion, Occultist, and Jester. Each character has its characteristics, skills, and combat characteristics. The main task is to save the lives of all players and mental health at the end of the path. The stability of units is affected by the received damage, traps, the battlefield, and many other aspects. A demoralized fighter may ignore an order or become ineffective on the battlefield by behaving inappropriately. As the journey progresses, each character becomes more versatile, acquiring additional character traits.

Darkest Dungeon 2 Release Date

With a tweet published in the past few days, Red Hook Studios has announced the release date in early access of Darkest Dungeon 2, the new chapter of the Gothic-style RPG series.
The game will be available on the Epic Games Store from October 26, 2021. For the moment, we do not know what content will be present in Darkest Dungeon 2 at this stage, and therefore we await more information from Red Hook Studios.

As previously announced, Darkest Dungeon 2 will be Epic Games Store exclusive during the Early Access period but will be available on other PC stores when it is available in version 1.0.
