Stardew Valley Guide: Feeding Chickens
Getting A Chicken in Stardew Valley
There is a wide assortment of livestock a player can have in the game. Chickens are one category which give eggs everyday if the player feeds it properly and keeps it happy.
The player needs a coop to house chickens first. Then, go to Marnie’s Ranch and buy a chicken. It will cost 800 gold.
The chicken feeds on grass so it is recommended to have a patch of grass outside of the coop with a fence around it to contain the chickens.
Feeding Your Chickens Right
The player needs hay to feed the chickens. This can be purchased from Marnie’s Ranch at 50 gold a piece or by using a silo once the player can cut grass with a scythe.
Once the player has hay, go to the wooden area into the coop. Place the hay there and then the chickens will feed on them. Make sure to frequently check back in to see if the chickens need more hay.
