Target Jumps on Pokemon GO: Puts Giant Pokeballs Outside

It’s no news that a lot of companies tried to capitalize on the huge popularity of Pokemon GO. The most common strategy is making your store a Pokestop, so people will stop buy and maybe decide they want to buy something as well.

Now, mainstream retailer Target is taking this approach one step further by turning the billboards in the front of some of their stores into Giant Pokeballs. This has little functionality; it’s just an eye-catcher. Target hopes people will see it and then go in, and hopefully buy something they didn’t need.

They’re also pushing Pokemon merchandise to the front of the store. Pokemon GO’s popularity might not be what it used to be, but this little tactic could work for Target.
