  1. Press Windows + R key to open Run Command box
  2. Type regedit.exe and press Enter
  3. When the Registry window opens, locate the following key:
    •  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell

  4. Right-click on the shell key
  5. Then select New
  6. Then select Key from the menu
    • Registry Key Shell New
  7. Add a name (this is the name of the application that you want to add in the desktop right-click menu, for instance VLC)
  8. Right-click on the new key
  9. Select New, then Key from the menu
  10. This new key should be named command in lowercase
  11. From the Windows\System32 folder, find the full path to the application
    • Right click on the application exe and and select the Copy as Path
  12. Now click on command on the left side
  13. Double-click on the (Default) key in the right side
  14. In the String value textbox paste in the full path to the executable
  15. Close the Registry window.

Now go to desktop and right-clicking, you will find the application you added. That’s all about add application to Windows desktop right-click menu.
