Elden Ring is a third-person action-adventure RPG set in a dark fantasy world from the creators of the Dark Souls series in collaboration with the author of Game of Thrones. The focus is on role-playing elements that will give more control over the character and the passage of the game, compared to other games in the studio. You will find a wide variety of weapons, magic, and fighting styles, as well as more “role-playing variety.”

It is a new project from the studio FromSoftware – the developers of the legendary Dark Souls series. This time, the firm, led by Hidetaka Miyazaki, is working with George Martin, best known for his fantasy novel A Song of Ice and Fire. Now players are waiting for a real open world, in which it will be possible to visit almost any visible point. For traveling across large territories, the character will have a horse. Rumor has it that Elden Ring will even feature mounted combat, another new addition to the Souls series. One has only to remember Gwyn – the supreme god from Dark Souls, throwing lightning. Lore has always been a separate topic in FromSoft games, apart from Sekiro, in which everything was more or less standard. Usually, to understand the lore from the title of the Souls series, you need to either hunt for objects or delve into their descriptions for a very long time. Or, as most people do, watch an overview of the plot on YouTube. Be that as it may, this time, you don’t have to worry about the quality of lore because George Martin himself is responsible for it. We can only hope that he will write it faster than his books. Otherwise, we cannot hope for the release of Elden Ring in our century.

Elden Ring Graphics and engine

Sekiro and Dark Souls 3 were developed on the PhyreEngine engine with the integration of the Havok physics engine. It suggests that the new Elden Ring will be developed on an improved version of the PhyreEngine engine. So it is logical to compare them. Although, the choice of the game engine depends more on the developer than on the genre of the game. But there are no other options.
