How to Rename a Network in Windows 10
Option 1: Use Local Security Policy to change network name
- Press Windows Key + R to open Run
- Type secpol.msc
- Press Enter
- In Local Security Policy window, in the left pane, navigate to the Network List Manager Policies
- Double click on the network name on the right pane that needs to be changed
- In the Properties windows, under the Name section. check whether the Name is selected
- Enter the network name in the text box
- Click on Apply
- Now click OK
- Reboot your PC
Option 2: Use Registry Editor to change network name
- Press Windows Key + R to open Run
- Typing regedit to open Registry
- Click OK
- In the Registry window, navigate to the following key in the left pane:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles
- Expand all the subkeys to reach the one which has ProfileName set as the name of the network
- Double click on the ProfileName on the right pane to edit it
- Change the Value data
- Now close Registry Editor
- Reboot your PC
